High school football is Jonathan Dale Bentonarguably one of the most popular sports in Texas, especially at the community level. Look no further than the many million-dollar stadiums across the state and MaxPreps' top 10 high school football teams in the country. The sport provides plenty of memorable moments every fall.

But one typically mundane moment on Sept. 15 became one of the most unusual plays of the high school season. Brice Helton, athletic director at Live Oak Classical School in Waco, Texas, called it a "one in a million" catch.

In a six-man football game between Live Oak and Gordon High School, Gordon's kicker lined up for an extra point. The kick easily split the uprights with plenty of distance. The ball cleared the field and the fence to come down towards the street running alongside the field.

It happened to be the perfect timing for recent Baylor graduate Kennedy Irwin to catch the ball, per KWTX, in the passenger seat of an SUV driving by the game.

Watch the "one in a million" catch:

Irwin was reportedly leaving a downtown Waco-area Airbnb on the way to dinner with four friends when their route took them alongside Live Oak's field at the perfect time.

The crowd erupted after a catch more fitting of a Dude Perfect video than a high school football game.

Gordon ended up winning the game 58-8 over Live Oak but the players, coaches, fans, and Irwin will remember this moment far more than the score.
